Salsa II

Note to self:  if you're going to continue handling chilies like that, you've got to start wearing gloves.  Especially now that alergy season is here.

Really.

Salsa

I had an exciting evening, tonight.  What made it exciting, you might ask.  This guy, is the one who who made it so exciting, tonight:

http://www.foodsubs.com/Photos/chilepepper-habanero.jpgYep, this little monster and 9 of his tiny pals stopped by my home and agreed to join me for a little can of whoopass.  http://www.shogomad.com/archive/tnl/muha/misc/whoopass.jpg  I made 2 different Habanero salsas, tonight.  This one was hot and yummy, while this one was, well, when you look at that recipe you're going to say "Well, DUH, Bonehead!  Of course that one ripped you a new... no, BURNED you a new one the next morning!"  Wup-Ass?  No, think DUMB-ASS.

    But, -and you're going to get a chuckle over this one-, I didn't really, REALLY know how hot these little fuckers are.  So, I made one for the Good Eats, and it was indeed good eats, and one to, well, one to Understand.  Yes, there was an education gained, here, tonight.  Wow.

TiVo Finally Debuts Dual-Tuner DVRs

TiVo Finally Debuts Dual-Tuner DVRs
It's
unclear what took them so long, but this week digital video recorder
(DVR) pioneer TiVo finally unveiled a version of its popular TiVo
Series 2 DVR that features dual tuners, allowing consumers to record
two shows at the same time. An 80-hour version of the box will retail
for $99.99, not including the monthly (or lifetime) TiVo service
charge. This is great news for all those people who have a hard time
choosing between "Supernanny" and "The Apprentice." On the other hand,
those people should really consider watching a lot less TV.

-via Windows IT Pro

Yay!  Go Tivo!  If I ever leave my DirecTV, I've got to find a way to keep my Tivo functionality.  (Here I am talking about TV, again.  How did this happen???)  Maybe include a media-pc box w/ hotshit remote control ( I can't find the link, just now, or name, but saw some nifty options over on Tomshardware.com, the other day) in my budgeting, but I think I'd have to test it out before dumping my precious Tivo.  Okay, 1/2 Tivo.  It's the knee-capped version from DirecTV.

Sell your Movies OnlineThrough CustomFlix

Sell your Movies OnlineThrough CustomFlix

Posted by Richard Baguley

Published on April 26, 2006

Amazon has just announced an interesting new service for filmmakers: their subsidiary company CustomFlix
will take a video that a filmmaker uploads to them, and sell it on
blu-Ray, HD-DVD and other physical format. This sounds like an
interesting idea for the aspiring filmmaker: it overcomes the whole
problem of duplication, distribution and retail: they do it all for you
and sell it either through Amazon.com or a custom store on your own
site. It sounds like a great way to sell your movies without the
hassle, and it doesn’t seem too expensive: their service for independent filmmakers costs $19.95 a year per title, plus a setup fee of $49.95 per movie and a chunk of the revenue when you sell them.

I like it!  THERE's a good use for the Internet!  Not that I've got a pile of films sitting around waiting for a distributor, but this really could make film more accessible to movie makers.  Now, we just have to hold our breath for the audience to catch up, and everything will be right as rain!

Performancing for Firefox, you'll be relieved to hear, now rocks.  The blogging client really does appear to be solid.  And SO easy to use!  LOVE it!  You should check it out, too.  I wonder when they'll start asking for money.

Bill would make sale of sex toys illegal in South Carolina

Bill would make sale of sex toys illegal in South Carolina

By SEANNA ADCOX
The Associated Press
April 21, 2006

E.W. Scripps Corporation Logo COLUMBIA — Lucy's Love Shop employee Wanda Gillespie said she was flabbergasted that South Carolina's Legislature is considering outlawing sex toys.

    WTF?!  Who gives a shit what consenting adults want to do in their own homes in South Carolina?  I mean, if they're not going to share the pics w/ the rest of us, of course.  Don't people get it, that once you start snooping on "Them" or "Those kinds of People", there isn't anywhere to stop?

First they came for the
communists, and I did not speak out--

    because I was not a communist;

Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out--

    because I was not a socialist;

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out--

    because I was not a trade unionist;

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--

    because I was not a Jew;

Then they came for me--

    and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Austrians are getting enough nookie

Global sex survey is out, today.  There are some interesting tidbits on NPR's web page:

How important is sex?

• Only 49 percent of men and 32 percent of women indicated that sex was extremely or very important to their overall life.

Which gender is happier w/ their sex life?
• Men report higher levels of sexual satisfaction than women, regardless of nation.

Happiest/Saddest?*
• Overall, people in Austria are most satisfied with their sex lives, and Japanese are least satisfied.

Lighting

I saw a great picture I wanted to capture, this morning, of the Freemont Bridge in Portland absolutely glowing in the first 30 minutes after sunrise against a deep, dark sky. So, as I strolled across the parking lot to the perfect spot to capture the image, I let my mind wander through the fact that if I were a professional photographer or a truly obsessed photographer, I'd be running to that spot up there with bags banging against me and people turning to gape at the whacko with the cameras, etc.

When I arrived at my destination, I put my coffee down gently and out of the way, popped the lens cap, set the camera to the exposure settings that I knew I'd want for this shot, looked up at my bridge, and the light had changed and I'd lost my shot.

Teach me to think instead of Do, eh?

MS Virtual Server for Free

Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2

Wow, that didn't take long. A little over a month ago VMWare announced their virtual server software, or at least a beta of one version of it, would be free and I think that the final product would be free, as well. I tried it, but didn't find it as easy to use as Virtual PC, which I use for a testing "sandbox" at work.

So, something like a month later MS announces that they, TOO, are now giving this stuff away! I keep hearing people tell me that "pretty soon, the hardware's going to be free and the software's going to be where the real money is!", but at this rate, the money's going to stay right here in my pocket! Okay, okay, the money's going to go to the Ravensburger jigsaw puzzle company to feed my 4-yr-old's fucking addiction, but that's neither here nor there, for you. ;-)
