Morning-after scandal

Morning-after scandal

From the New York Times: Report Details FDA Rejection of Next-Day Pill

Top federal drug officials decided to reject an application to allow over-the-counter sales of the morning-after pill months before a government scientific review of the application was completed, according to accounts given to Congressional investigators. ~snip~ The officials' decision to ignore the recommendation of an independent advisory committee as well as the agency's own scientific review staff was unprecedented, the report found.

The practices by the FDA that are described in this article turn my stomach.  The FDA is, appartently, no longer using science to make its decisions, but inflicting somebody else's morality on the rest of us.  How conservatives can support this kind of shit is beyond me.  I can't believe that they don't see that this kind of behavior is going to come back to get them, too.

This is infuriating in so many ways, not surprising but infuriating!

This country is getting scarier and scarier every time I read the news!  What are these people doing to America?!    (That's rhetorical, btw.  It's a long catalog of how they're legislating our morality, religion, and ethics, and that's all without bringing up the big T word, either!)
